Monitor Any Wallet's Historical Balance, Asset Distribution, and How Their Behavior Correlates With Price!
Interested in monitoring specific whale wallets (or any wallets) in a much easier and more digestable way? You may not have realized that Santiment offers an incredibly efficient way to track how any wallet is behaving.
Earlier today, we discussed the public wallet represented by World Liberty Financial, associated with the Trump family. Based on their behavior, it appears that one of the most powerful figures in the world seems to not just be pro-crypto with his speeches. Looking under the hood, his team has clearly been loading up on DeFi related coins in the week since Trump was inaugurated:
But this, of course, is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of how you can investigate wallet behavior. Say you aren't very familiar with where whale wallets are located. Well, if you're looking for a great place to get started, you can try Santiment's recently released Whale Watcher CEX Deposits dashboard. Here, you can find specific large transactions of wallets sending their coins to Centralized Exchanges over the past 24 hours. The majority of ERC-20 assets can be searched for here.
We also put out a very helpful article just last week that describes some of the best ways to use this dashboard effectively to find some of the biggest whales moving coins and impacting prices.
Alternatively, you can also check out the Top Transaction Table for an asset like Ethereum directly on the Sanbase charts page.
Scroll just slightly down the page, and you'll be met with the largest ETH transactions in the past 30 days. These transactions are complete with the date and time they took place, the sending address and receiving address (along with very detailed labeling of where they are associated), and even the transaction hash:
If we click on the top receiving wallet (under the "To" column) in the screenshot above, Sanbase will automatically open a new tab for you that displays the historical balance of the wallet belonging to 0x77134cbc06cb00b66f4c7e623d5fdbf6777635ec. Although the page may look pretty bare to begin with, like many pages on Santiment, it takes just a click or two to suddenly see extremely useful data to help with your research and trading. When clicking on the "Add assets" button below:
Upon clicking this button, you'll be met with assets that are chronologically listed from the wallet's largest holding to its smallest. Let's click on the top 3 and see how things look:
As we can see, this wallet holds a whopping $560.5M worth of total cryptocurrencies, comprised of 156 distinctly different coins. By opening its top 3 largest holdings, we see its balance of Ethereum, Tether, and USD Coin (along with each of the coins' coinciding prices, if you'd like to do some correlation analysis between the wallet's behavior and how prices fluctuate). You can always "x" out the prices, which aren't going to be particularly useful for Tether or USD Coin with them being stablecoins. Here is how the wallet looks with just its top 3 coin balances displayed, and with the date range zoomed out to just before it began becoming active in August, 2022:
So clearly we can gather that this wallet is holding its highest levels of ETH in over 2 years, and its stablecoin supply appears to be quite high as well. We also know that it's a top 100 (largest) Bitfinex hot wallet, based on the handy labeling we saw when first clicking on it in the Top Transactions table.
So this is a great way to simply explore a whale wallet we don't have much other information on, and is more than likely owned anonymously, as the vast majority of cryptocurrency addresses are. But what about some of the more famous or publicly well known ERC-20 wallets in cryptocurrency?
Here are a list of handy wallets (and their top 3 holdings) that you're welcome to keep tabs on using your Sanbase PRO account or 2-week Santiment trial, in no particular order:
Binance 14 Hot Wallet ($2.86B in Holdings)
Vitalik Buterin's (ETH Founder) Burn Address ($7.8B in Holdings)
Bitfinex Cold Wallet ($1.6B in Holdings)
MakerDAO Vault ($7.5M in Holdings)
Tether Treasury ($21.8M in Holdings)
Satoshi Nakamoto's Wallet - Genesis Block ($5.1M in Holdings)
If you love researching wallets, we'd love to hear what kinds of discoveries you make pertaining to some of the notable wallets you like to track, whether it's for research purposes or for actually finding some potential alpha for future prices!
